What is the Park View Parents’ group? In short, we are parents who volunteer to partner with teachers and staff to organize and run fun and educational events and activities for the students at our school. Our faculty and staff are amazing, but they can’t do it all! They need our help.
Who can be a member? Do you have a child that attends Park View Elementary? If the answer is yes, then YOU ARE A MEMBER! Because we are unaffiliated with the National PTA, there are no membership dues collected. Everyone is invited and encouraged to help where and when they can. The PVP especially welcomes your input at our monthly meeting held the last (school attended) Monday at 9AM.
The next PVP meeting is on February 22, 2021 at 9AM in the Faculty Room.
What does the PVP group do? The following activities are sponsored and organized by the PVP:
Fall Community Carnival - our annual fundraiser
3 SEP teacher dinners - plan the meal and recruit donations from parents
Christmas Stories - before Christmas break, volunteer to rotate between classes in a grade and read a seasonal book to the students. Dressing up is not required, but can be fun!
Annual Art Festival - created by the PVP to replace the Reflections program
Book Fair - parents work with Scholastic Books to run the book fair and try to earn more books for our school
Good Morning with Grandparents - an annual breakfast held before school for students to share with their grandparents or grandparent figures
Teacher Appreciation Week - PVP provides a catered lunch for teachers and organizes daily themes to thank them
Yearbooks - created and sold by the PVP
Room Parents - previously called Room Moms. Room parents help organize class parties for Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day. Every spring, room parents create a poster for the door and inform the other classroom parents of their teacher’s favorites for Teacher Appreciation Week.
The following events are run by the school and supported by the PVP:
How can I help? Please come to the monthly meeting, always held on the last (school attended) Monday of every month at 9:00am in the Faculty Room! Children are welcome, but please provide a means of keeping them entertained. This is a great way to get to know other parents at the school and to have your voice heard. When you arrive, please remember to sign in at the front office before heading to the Faculty Room.
Also, check this website often for sign-ups with opportunities to volunteer in the school. As the saying goes, many hands make light work! The more that parents are involved and informed, the better our school will be for our children.
