Park View Parents Meeting
December 3, 2019 1:30pm Recap: Book Fair- Had a great turn out. Grandparents morning was very successful. $5,700 was earned. Everyone enjoyed having it in the Hive, instead of the stage. Upcoming: SEP Dinner- December 12. Marissa Weaver is in charge. Most sign-ups have been filled. Christmas Books- Sign-up sheet is created and Mrs. Walker will send it out. Morning Kindergarten will happen at 10:35-11:00/ Science Fair- 31st of January. In need of judges. A sign-up will be sent out in January Art Festival- Still need a chair and 5 committee members. Rubric and other forms are already created. Budget of $400 for medals and other prizes and anything else needed. Apprentice for next year- still needed. Will post sign-ups at Parent/Teacher conferences. Ways to get more volunteers were discussed. So many people showed up at Grandparent’s morning. If some of those grandparents knew that the school needed volunteers, they might get involved. Putting out a flier for volunteers was discussed, as well as a way to get more dads involved, such as coming in at recess to play with the kids. PVP would like a list from teachers of specifics needs for more help, such as someone to help with 4th grade math, or someone to read with a 2nd grader, etc. 8 people were in attendance. Megan Barker Lindsey Troyer Annie Clark Amanda Harper Rachel Hansen Marissa Weaver Holly Kent Natalie Mellen Next meeting will be January 7 at 1:30 pm in the Teacher’s Lounge. November 5, 2019 1:30 pm Carnival Fundraiser: Goal was to raise $3,700. This year’s carnival raised $4,675.25. Carnival was success overall. Cotton candy needs to be done differently-or maybe not at all. Ideas to improve it-perhaps make beforehand and bag it, don’t make it part of the community card, do popcorn instead, etc. Survey results discussed. One way to use PVP funds that was mentioned frequently was on playground equipment. Walk to School Day went well Box Top Week will not be happening next year because of the move to digital box tops. Think of ideas to advertise box tops so we can still get participation. Red ribbon week went well. 15 prizes for eating with your family were provided by PVP plus additional ones provided by Mrs. Walker. Upcoming Events- Book Fair. Much better in the Hive, than on the stage. Teacher breakfast went really well. Each teacher has a table with their wishlist of books. Grandparent breakfast on Thursday. Breakfast will include donut holes, bananas, yogurt and orange juice and milk. Expecting a good turnout like last year. SEP Dinner- December 12. Marissa Weaver is organizing. Watch for sign-ups. Christmas Books- 3 volunteers for each grade needed, except for Kindergarten, 4th, and 6th which only need 2 volunteers. Tentative date planned for December 13 at 1:45. Library will provide books if needed. Volunteers encouraged to dress up. Recruiter will create sign-up. Art Festival- Chairperson is needed. Melissa Andrew will help.
